PIKACHU HAT PATTERN.

This is a fun hat pattern guaranteed to please any little pokemon fan. It is a beginner to intermediate crochet pattern. You can choose to stuff the ears or leave them unstuffed, it's a personal preference.

Abbreviations
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
ch – Chain
sc – single crochet

Materials needed
Yellow yarn
Red yarn
Black yarn
Yarn sewing needle
Size 5.5mm hook

Hat Base
Starting with yellow
Row 1 - Chain 3, DC 10 into third chain from hook. Sl st to join, chain 2.
Row 2 – 2 DC in each stitch until the end, sl st to join, Chain 2.
Row 3 - *1 DC in first st, 2 DC in next st*. Repeat to end. Sl st to join, ch
2.
Row 4 - *1DC in first two st, 2DC in next st*. Repeat to end. Sl st to
join, ch 2.
Row 5 - * 1 DC in first three sts, 2 DC in next*. Repeat to end. Sl st to
join, ch 2.
Row 6 - *2DC in first stitch, 1 DC in next nine st* Repeat to end. Sl st to
join, ch 2.
Rows 7-12 – 1DC in all stitches around. Sl st to join, ch 2.
Row 13 – *DC two together, DC one in each of next 9 sts.* Repeat to
end. Sl st to join.

This is where you will begin the earflap! Do not break off yarn!
Row 1 - Ch 1 and HDC into next 12 st. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2 – HDC2Together, sc in next 8 sts, HDC2Together, ch 1, turn.
Row 3 – HDC2Together, sc in next 6 sts, SC2Together, Ch 1. Turn.
Row 4 – HDC2Toghether, sc in next 4sts, HDC2Together, Ch 1, turn.
Row 5 – HDC each st to end of row, ch 1, turn.
Row 6 – HDC2Together, sc in next 2 sts, HDC2Together, ch 1, turn.
Row 7 – HDC each st to end of row, ch 1, turn.
Row 8 – HDC2Together, HDC2Together.
Finish off and weave in ends.
Find the even side for the other earflap and repeat same pattern on the other side. Once this is complete use yellow to add a SC border around the entire base of the hat to remove the rough edge appearance.

Cheeks.
With red. Make 2.
Ch 3. 8 DC in third chain from hook. Sl st to join, finish off and cut long thread for sewing.

Eyes
With black, make 2.
Ch 3. 10 DC in third Ch from hook. Sl st to join, finish off and cut long thread for sewing.
With white, make 2
Ch 2 6 SC in second ch from hook. Sl st to join, finish off and cut long
thread for sewing.

Pikachu ears

Begin with black, make two.
Row 1 - Ch 3, 6 DC into third ch from hook. Sl st to join, chain 2.
Row 2 – 2DC in each st around. Sl st to join, attach yellow.
Row 3 – 8 – ch 2, DC in each st around. Sl st to join.
Finish off and leave long tail for sewing.

Nose
With Black, Ch 3, DC 6 in third ch from hook. DO NOT JOIN TOGETHER. Finish off and leave long tail for sewing.
For braids cut 12 strands of black and 6 of yellow. Add 3 yellow and 6 black to each side and braid through.
