DEADPOOL SNUGGLE BUDDY

This is a little more of an experienced pattern, or those used to working in rounds. This also requires knowledge of granny squares. I created this pattern on a whim not long after seeing Deadpool in theaters and kept the toy for my daughter.

MATERIALS NEEDED
5.0mm hook
3.75mm hook
tapestry needle
Red Heart SuperSaver True Red
Red Heart SuperSaver Black
WHITE 6mm brads OR safety eyes.
Polyfill stuffing
Stitch marker(safety pin)

NOTES
Head is worked in a continuous round, blanket is worked in separate rounds and made like a larger granny square.

ABBREVIATIONS
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch

BLANKET
Round 1 – Using 5.0mm hook with red yarn ch 4, sl st to fourth chain from hook to form a ring. Ch 3, dc 2 into ring, ch 3, dc 3 into ring, ch 3, dc 3 into ring, ch 3, dc 3 into ring, ch 3. Sl st to join. Sl st next two sts.
Round 2 – *Ch 3, dc 3 into first corner chained space, ch 3, dc 3 into same corner chain space, ch 2. Repeat from * to end, sl st to join, sl st 2 more times. Finish off and weave in end.
Round 3 – Switching to Black, pick up stitch where last row left off. Ch 3, dc 2 into chain space, ch 3, dc 3 into same chain space, ch 2, * dc 3 into next chain space, ch 2, dc 3 into corner chain space, ch 3, dc 3 into same corner chain space. Repeat from * to end. Sl st to join. Sl st 2 more times.  




Repeat Round 2 until you have a sequence as follows starting from center and working outwards.

2 rounds red
2 rounds black
3 rounds red
2 rounds black
3 rounds red.

For blanket edging switch to black

SC two rounds in BACK LOOPS ONLY with a slip stitch to join each round.

HEAD
Using 3.75mm hook and red yarn. Working a continuous round.
Round 1 – ch 2, SC 6 into 2^nd chain from hook. (6 sts)
Round 2 – SC 2 into each st. (12 sts)
Round 3 – * SC into first, SC 2 into next. Rep from * to end. (18 sts)
Round 4 - * SC 1 into each of first 2 sts, SC 2 into next. Rep from * to end. (24 sts)
Round 5 - * SC 1 into each of first 3 sts, SC 2 into next. Rep from * to end. (30 sts)
Round 6 - * SC 1 into each of first 4 sts, SC 2 into next. Rep from * to end. (36 sts)
Rounds 7-12 – SC around. (36 sts)
Round 13 - * SC 1 into each of first 4 sts, SC2Tog. Rep from * to end. (30 sts)
Round 14 - * SC 1 into each of first 3 sts, SC2Tog. Rep from * to end. (24 sts)
Round 15 - * SC 1 into each of first 2 sts, SC2Tog. Rep from * to end. (18 sts)
Round 16 - * SC 1 into first st, SC2Tog. Rep from * to end. (12 sts)
STUFF HEAD HERE!
Round 17 – * SC2Tog. Repeat from * to end. (6 sts)
Finish off and leave long tail for sewing. Before attaching head to blanket, weave needle through bottom hole and pull tight to fully close.

EYES
Using 3.75mm hook & black yarn.
Round 1 – Ch 2, sc 6 into 2^nd chain from hook.
TURN.
Round 2 – SC into each st.
Finish off and leave long tail for sewing. Attach brads/safety eyes towards bottom of eye shape.
